Kyle and I discussed:
- The inspiration behind creating early YouTube reviewsÂ
- Launching an automotive YouTube businessÂ
- Staying engaged with a massive social media audienceÂ
- Evolving the channel from car reviews to restorationsÂ
- And much more
Let’s get into it!
Staying engaged with a social media following
Kyle’s journey in the space is a unique one. We cover his story in detail throughout the podcast discussion.
Fast forward to the present day, and the success of SaabKyle04 is undeniable. Collectively, his videos have generated over 700 million views. The channel also boasts over 1.3 million followers.
So, how does he stay connected to such a massive and growing audience? After all, Kyle still has to do everything at scale, from filming to script writing, editing, video reviews, and restoration projects.Â
Kyle acknowledges that he can only communicate so well. But he tries to stay engaged with his audience as much as possible and film what they want to see.Â
Here are some of Kyle’s tips to stay engaged with your shop’s social media audience:Â
Evolving your content focus
Kyle mentions that despite the super successful car reviews, his passion has been working on older cars since he was young.Â
He dabbled in some project cars over the years. But without a firm mechanical knowledge, those projects didn’t become a staple for his channel.Â
That changed when Kyle bought his 1989 Nissan 240SX. His dream vehicle motivated him to take calculated risks and film more restoration project content for SaabKyle04. Examples of those projects involve taking apart suspensions and pulling out the interior.Â
The moral of this story for your shop and its social media strategy: find a lane you can thrive in, but also, don’t be afraid to try new things.Â
Stay genuine with your video content. Create videos that you enjoy making, not to become famous. That approach will resonate with your customers and people interested in your services.Â
